Now one would think that that meant he would be calling her at a later date to perhaps hang out or even perform another sexual act, the truth is he was going to top up her phone.\u003C\/div\u003E\u003Cdiv style=\"text-align: justify;\"\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003C\/div\u003E\u003Cdiv style=\"text-align: justify;\"\u003ENow for those who don't know what \"top up\" means,\u003C\/div\u003E\u003Cdiv style=\"text-align: justify;\"\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003C\/div\u003E\u003Cdiv style=\"text-align: center;\"\u003E\u003Ci\u003ETop Up: adding call credit to one's prepaid cellular phone plan.\u003C\/i\u003E\u003C\/div\u003E\u003Cdiv style=\"text-align: center;\"\u003E\u003Ci\u003Ee.g. he topped up her phone; She got a top up on her phone\u003C\/i\u003E\u003C\/div\u003E\u003Cdiv style=\"text-align: justify;\"\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003C\/div\u003E\u003Cdiv style=\"text-align: justify;\"\u003EI wish I could tell you that this is an isolated occurrence, that this rarely happens, but this is a common practice of young women in our society and I would also say in our region. And this is where I think society have failed them and when I say society, I mean everyone, their parents, the government, the churches, the media and even these young women. They really don't know the value of themselves and their bodies.\u003C\/div\u003E\u003Cdiv style=\"text-align: justify;\"\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003C\/div\u003E\u003Ch4 style=\"text-align: justify;\"\u003EThe Female Body\u003C\/h4\u003E\u003Cdiv style=\"text-align: justify;\"\u003EThroughout history, the female form had been heralded, from the Venus De Milo to the Mona Lisa to fertility idols, but somewhere along the lines, the female form has been used to sell products and to tell women that they are not enough. If they would use this product or that gizmo or that magic pill, they will be just like this woman who is the epitome of female beauty. But she's not.\u003C\/div\u003E\u003Cdiv style=\"text-align: justify;\"\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003C\/div\u003E\u003Cdiv style=\"text-align: justify;\"\u003EIn fact, female beauty exists in every woman, it's not found in the perfect symmetrical face or the pouting lips or rounded ass. In fact, all those qualities are but trends in the beauty industry. You never know, in the next decade or two, the ideal woman is not going to look like Kim Kardashian (yeah, I went there), she may end of being pale skinned, blue eyed and rail thin. Female beauty is all about loving what you possess physically and being confident.\u003C\/div\u003E\u003Cdiv style=\"text-align: justify;\"\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003C\/div\u003E\u003Ch4 style=\"text-align: justify;\"\u003EConfidence\u003C\/h4\u003E\u003Cdiv style=\"text-align: justify;\"\u003EHow can we be confident when everywhere we turn there are heavily made up women, some of which have been digitally enhanced? From billboards to magazines to TV ads to internet ads, we are told that these people are beautiful and because we don't look like them, it is safe to say we are not beautiful. It's simple logic. And it robs us of our confidence.\u003C\/div\u003E\u003Cdiv style=\"text-align: justify;\"\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003C\/div\u003E\u003Cdiv style=\"text-align: justify;\"\u003EI say robs us because there was a time when we were bursting with confidence, when we knew we the bees knees and we acted like that. But somewhere between Kindergarten and High School, some of us lost our shine or it was dulled. Sometimes in losing our confidence we turn to others to validate who we are, we crave people's attention, we want them to like us. If only we knew that the person we need to like us is ourselves.\u003C\/div\u003E\u003Cdiv style=\"text-align: justify;\"\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003C\/div\u003E\u003Cdiv style=\"text-align: justify;\"\u003ENot only like, but love. When we love ourselves, we would never let anyone devalue our persons, our bodies. Sad to say, no one teaches self-love to children and pre-teens. Sad to say that some of these young women come from households where their mothers are too busy working to provide for the household or doesn't value herself in the end teaching their daughters not to value themselves.\u003C\/div\u003E\u003Cdiv style=\"text-align: justify;\"\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003C\/div\u003E\u003Ch4 style=\"text-align: justify;\"\u003EThe Solution\u003C\/h4\u003E\u003Cdiv style=\"text-align: justify;\"\u003EThe solution is not a silver bullet that will instantaneously change the way young women look at themselves. In fact, it would require a campaign approach over a period of time. This would include,\u003C\/div\u003E\u003Cul style=\"text-align: justify;\"\u003E\u003Cli\u003E\u003Cb\u003EPromotional material\u003C\/b\u003E - billboards and posters with catchy graphics and copy speaking to the value of the female form. Perhaps something like, you wouldn't toss a diamond into a pig sty, then why give your body away to a pig? That is pretty weak but you get the drift.\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/li\u003E\u003Cli\u003E\u003Cb\u003ETelevision and radio ads\u003C\/b\u003E on music stations, again, with catchy phrases.\u003C\/li\u003E\u003Cli\u003E\u003Cb\u003EIn school talks\u003C\/b\u003E - both targeting the girls and boys. Separate talks as well as integrated talks. Those with the girls would encourage them to hold themselves to a higher standard and those with the boys would focus on equating girls to women in their lives who they value\u003C\/li\u003E\u003Cli\u003E\u003Cb\u003ESpeaking on radio and TV talk shows\u003C\/b\u003E - this is more for the wider community so they are aware.\u003C\/li\u003E\u003C\/ul\u003E\u003Cdiv style=\"text-align: justify;\"\u003EAll of this would not be a one time deal but continuous. Have you ever seen Coca-cola take a break from advertising? Their brand awareness is off the charts and wouldn't it be great if we could take that level of making people conscious of the idea that women should be valued.\u003C\/div\u003E\u003Cdiv style=\"text-align: justify;\"\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003C\/div\u003E\u003Cdiv style=\"text-align: justify;\"\u003EUnfortunately, this is all wishful thinking. Or is it? Could a program be created using international funding and even crowd funding? Is it possible that we can change the course of the next generation of women that would carry on beyond our great granddaughters? In part it is my journey in becoming a woman and in part it is a guide for my daughter (when I have her) on her journey in becoming a woman. Among many things, it will visit the themes of self love and acceptance, finding one's path in life and tapping into one's inner wisdom.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EI know there are many blogs that speak on these themes and I questioned if I should even add my voice to the chorus. Then I figure what the hey, why not? If anything it will clarify my runaway thoughts and give structure to what I would share with my mini me or myself when I was younger.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Ch4\u003EWhy Venus\u003C\/h4\u003EWhenever I think of the goddess Venus, I think of this image,\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cdiv class=\"separator\" style=\"clear: both; text-align: center;\"\u003E\u003Ca href=\"http:\/\/www.ancient.eu\/uploads\/images\/711.jpg?v=1431035676\" imageanchor=\"1\" style=\"margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;\"\u003E\u003Cimg border=\"0\" src=\"http:\/\/www.ancient.eu\/uploads\/images\/711.jpg?v=1431035676\" height=\"409\" width=\"640\" \/\u003E\u003C\/a\u003E\u003C\/div\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cdiv style=\"text-align: justify;\"\u003EGranted this painting depicted the female body of that time as the ideal, and truth be told it is a true depiction of the female body today, despite what fashion magazines tell us about how we are supposed to look. She was the Roman counterpart to the Greek Aphrodite.  However, Roman Venus had many abilities beyond the Greek Aphrodite; she  was a goddess of victory, fertility, and even prostitution. \u003C\/div\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EIn this respect, becoming Venus is about cultivating love, embracing one's sexuality, beauty and fertility, as well as being victorious in one's endeavours. All of these is what makes a woman a woman, in my estimation anyway. I am all for equal rights, but not to the degree that we lose what makes us different from the other sex.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003ENow I know that there are those who are not interested in cultivating their feminine wiles, those who accept themselves as they are, and to them, I say \"Do you\". But there are some of us who were just wondering around in the wilderness trying to figure out how to be a woman and\/or trying to develop into the woman we were meant to be. I'm still on my journey, and although in society, I am considered a woman, it does not mean that I am one entirely. There is still room to grow, to become the kind of woman that is not only beautiful, inside and out, but wise and confident. That is my personal aim. For those who don't know what Thirsty means, here is a definition from \u003Ca href=\"http:\/\/www.urbandictionary.com\/define.php?term=Thirsty\" target=\"_blank\"\u003EUrban Dictionary\u003C\/a\u003E:\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cblockquote class=\"tr_bq\"\u003ETo be thirsty, is to over actively: investigate, long for, covet, in  some occasions intensely staring, or bold displays of desperation. \u003C\/blockquote\u003ETo be honest, I have mixed opinions about this show. On one hand I dislike how it displays this sad version of women who crave male attention at the expense of their dignity and pride. But on the other hand, it shows the thirst so that women can identify it in themselves.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EAs I thought more about the show, I found myself thinking up things I would say to the various women, like\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cul\u003E\u003Cli\u003EIf the man tells you he is seeing other people and is pushing for you to be intimate with him, is he really the man you want to be with?\u003C\/li\u003E\u003Cli\u003EStop being a cock tease, honey. You can't be flirting and giving men the belief that they can get the cookies then tell them the kitchen is closed;\u003C\/li\u003E\u003Cli\u003EIf you want to be more than friends, tell the man. If he wants the same, woohoo. If not let it go and move on. In case you didn't know there are other men out there, just open your eyes.\u003C\/li\u003E\u003C\/ul\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EThen I stopped. I accepted that these women are young, they have yet to learn the facts of life and in this race to find Mr. Right and settle down, they will meet a lot of Mr. Wrongs and Mr. Not Right Nows. I also stopped because I know I did my fair share of stupid ish. Hell, I'm still doing stupid ish and most likely will do more in the future. Who am I to judge?\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EI noticed that I am always quick to give people solutions and advice but I rarely take the time to give myself the advice I needed. I was like the carpenter who's house is never finished, the seamstress who wore boring clothing and the doctor whose family always gets sick. It's only when we are instructed to take care of ourselves first then take care of the people we love that we actually do it. Through church and society we are told to take care of everyone before ourselves.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EIt was only recently that a concept became apparent to me,\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cblockquote class=\"tr_bq\"\u003EThey say treat others like you would treat yourself, but what if you don't like yourself? What if you treat yourself badly? Won't you treat others badly too?\u003C\/blockquote\u003EI treat myself badly when I don't nurture myself. I treat myself badly when I berate myself for making a mistake. I treat myself badly when I don't stand up for myself, when I didn't give myself the advice I need, when I don't ensure that I am happy. I treat myself badly when I put the needs of others before my own needs which leads to unhappiness and resentment.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EIt's time that this doctor took the time to look after herself because if she doesn't how can she look after someone else?\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cb\u003EHow about you?
